Description

This stoneware planter makes a cheerful little home for a favourite houseplant, finished in a soft off white glaze with bright illustrated artwork. On the front, a pale pink heart reads "MUMMY you are blooming lovely", framed by sprays of wild flowers in orange, yellow, lilac and green, with a tiny butterfly alongside. The rim is scalloped all the way round, and the pot sits in its own matching saucer, decorated with a ring of little flowers, bees, strawberries, hearts, bows and a hedgehog. It stands 11cm tall and measures 9.5cm across, a compact size that suits a small plant.

It is a lovely way to tell a mum how much she means, and makes a thoughtful Mother's Day gift that lasts long after the card has come down. We like it on a sunny kitchen windowsill, a bedside table or a desk, holding a small succulent, a cactus, a few herbs or a little trailing plant. The round, compact shape takes up very little room, so it settles happily on a narrow shelf or among her other favourite things, and the saucer gives it a tidy, finished look wherever it sits.

The pot and saucer are made from stoneware, a type of ceramic, with a smooth glazed finish and the colourful artwork applied as a decal. They are two separate pieces, so the pot lifts out easily when it is time to water or repot. To keep it looking its best, wipe both pieces with a soft damp cloth and dry them gently, and we would avoid scouring pads on the printed design. For a gift that is ready to go, pot it up with her favourite plant before you wrap it, and it will brighten her day as soon as the paper comes off.
