The Mount Vernon 1 Light Large Outdoor Lantern is a wall-mounted design finished in old bronze, built to bring a classic look to the outside of your home. Its lantern shape is framed in clear seedy glass, which carries a gentle ripple and slight texture that catches the light and softens the glow of the bulb inside. As a large model in the Mount Vernon family, it holds a single lamp and gives a steady, welcoming light beside a door or along a wall.

This lantern suits porches, entrances, garden walls and passageways where you want light with a traditional feel. It carries an IP44 rating, so it copes with splashing and the everyday weather you would expect outdoors, and a three year anti-corrosion guarantee backs the finish. Fitted as a mains wall light and built to Class I, it works well flanking a front door in pairs or standing alone by a side gate or courtyard. The old bronze tone reads warm against brick, render and painted timber alike.

The frame is made from aluminium with clear seedy glass panels, chosen to stand up to outdoor conditions while keeping a refined outline. It takes one E27 screw-fit bulb up to 60W, which is not included, so you can pick the brightness and colour temperature that suits the spot, as the light tone depends on the bulb you choose. The fitting is compatible with dimmable lamps if you would like to vary the level. To care for it, switch off the power and wipe the metal and glass with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners and abrasive pads, which can mark the finish over time, and check now and then that the fixings stay secure.
