Description

The Morvah is a 1-light outdoor wall light built around a cylindrical seeded glass shade held by a white metal frame and backplate. The shade can be mounted facing upwards or downwards depending on the installation position, with the E27 socket sitting centrally within the glass cylinder. The seeded texture in the glass diffuses the light output while still showing the bulb filament, making it pair well with vintage-style LED filament lamps.

Designed for external mounting on porches, covered entrances and garden walls, and internal use in bathrooms, hallways and utility areas, the Morvah carries an IP44 rating for protection against water splashes and solid objects down to 1mm. The white powder-coated finish on the metal frame resists corrosion in damp environments and sits neutrally against both light and dark exterior walls. The 189mm projection from the wall positions the glass cylinder clear of the mounting surface to cast light outward and downward when the shade faces down, or upward and outward when inverted.

The 300mm height and 120mm width give the fitting a vertical proportion that suits narrow wall sections between windows or beside external doors where a wider fitting would clash with trim. The seeded glass creates a texture of small bubbles and imperfections that break up direct glare from the bulb without blocking light transmission. Elstead Lighting produces the Morvah in the UK and backs it with a 2-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating provides protection against water splashes, making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 (not directly above a bath or shower). The white finish resists moisture damage in humid environments.

What bulb is recommended?

The fitting takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately). A vintage-style LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K colour temperature pairs well with the seeded glass, as the texture diffuses the filament glow without hiding it entirely.

Can the shade be mounted upside down?

Yes. The glass cylinder can be fitted facing upwards or downwards during installation. Mounting it downwards directs light onto pathways and steps; mounting it upwards casts light onto the wall and ceiling above.

Does the seeded glass affect light output?

The seeded texture diffuses direct glare from the bulb but does not significantly reduce overall light transmission. The small bubbles and imperfections in the glass spread the light more evenly than clear glass would.
