Description

The Morvah is a single-light outdoor wall light built around a seeded glass cylinder held between brushed brass end caps, with a stepped circular backplate and a horizontal arm fixing the glass in place. An E27 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the cylinder, with the seeded texture of the glass diffusing the light outward. The fitting carries an IP44 rating, protecting against water splashes and solid objects above 1mm.

Designed for outdoor porches, covered doorways, garage entrances and IP44-compliant bathroom zones, the Morvah can be installed with the glass facing upward or downward depending on the mounting position and lighting effect required. Upward-facing installation casts more light onto the ceiling or soffit above, while downward-facing installation directs light to the ground or step below. The 189mm projection from the wall keeps the glass clear of the wall surface and allows light to spread to the sides.

The brushed brass finish softens reflections under daylight and develops a natural patina over time in outdoor installations. The seeded glass texture creates a stippled light pattern rather than a smooth wash, which pairs well with period properties, barn conversions and homes mixing traditional detailing with contemporary interiors. The 300mm height and 120mm width suit standard porch and entrance scales without overwhelming smaller doorways.

Frequently Asked

Is the Morvah suitable for exposed outdoor positions?

The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction but not direct water jets or full immersion. The fitting is suitable for covered porches, doorways under eaves, garage entrances and recessed positions where it's shielded from direct rainfall. It is not rated for fully exposed wall positions subject to heavy weather.

What bulb should I use?

The fitting takes any standard E27 bulb up to 60W. LED filament bulbs in the 4-8W range with warm white colour temperature (2700K-3000K) complement the seeded glass and brass finish. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can it be installed upside down?

Yes. The fitting can be mounted with the glass cylinder facing upward or downward. Upward mounting casts more light onto the ceiling or soffit, while downward mounting directs light to the floor or step below.

Will the brass tarnish outdoors?

Brushed brass develops a natural patina over time when exposed to outdoor conditions. This is a characteristic of the material rather than a defect. To maintain the original brushed finish, wipe the brass gently with a dry cloth and use a brass polish periodically.
