The Morbarne Table Lamp pairs a slim black steel stem and a round black base with a tapered fabric shade in a soft, textured off-white. It stands 44cm tall and 18cm across, with a base 14.5cm across, so it sits comfortably on a bedside table or a narrow side table without crowding it. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 60W, which you choose yourself because the bulb is not included. The lamp is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in a dry room, well away from steam, splashes and the garden.

We think it suits a bedroom, a living room corner or a study, anywhere you want a pool of soft, local light rather than a bright overhead glow. The fabric shade diffuses the bulb, so the light falls gently across the table top and the wall behind it, which makes it a good reading companion at the end of the day. Its pared-back lines and neutral colours sit easily with wood, linen and other natural textures, and a matching pair either side of a bed or a sofa gives a room a calm, balanced look. Because the bulb is your choice, you can set the mood with a warm white for evenings or a cooler white for working.
