Description

Wide, white and low-slung, this is a ceiling fitting built around a quiet DC motor that draws only 12W and answers to a handset. The blades sweep a full 84cm, giving a broad, gentle push of air rather than a hard draught, and the white runs across body and blades so the whole thing reads as one clean shape overhead. Speed is set from the remote, with no pull cord to grope for in the dark. We like how little it announces itself: from below it is a soft disc, not a piece of machinery.

It suits bedrooms and sitting rooms, where the handset does the work from the bed or the sofa and a low speed can run through the night without intruding. Studies and home offices are worth a thought too, since steady air movement takes the edge off a warm afternoon far more cheaply than cooling does. Given the generous span, we would put it in a room with space around it rather than a narrow landing or a box room, and where the ceiling gives it comfortable clearance above head height. Keep it to dry, heated rooms indoors.

Finished in a flat white that sits happily against plaster and pale paint, it asks very little of you. Run a soft cloth along the top and underside of each blade every few months, before dust builds into a grey fur that unbalances the sweep, and keep any moisture well away from the motor housing.
