Description

The Molochio is a smart colour changing pendant light: a rounded smoked glass shade beneath a black steel cap, hung on a slim cable from a matching round ceiling rose. It measures 110cm high overall and 18cm in diameter. The shade is vaporised glass in a black-transparent tone, smoky enough to soften the glare of the LED. The light comes from an integrated LED of 3.7W giving 500lm, so there is no bulb to buy or replace. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in dry rooms, and never in a bathroom or a porch.

Over a dining table, a kitchen island or a breakfast bar, one Molochio gives a focused pool of light where people sit and eat, and several in a row suit a longer table. It works just as well in a hallway, a bedroom or a reading corner where a single hanging light is wanted. Because the white light and the colour both change from an app, the same pendant can give a crisp, cool white for a weekday breakfast, a warm, dimmed glow for a late supper and a wash of colour for a party.

The body is steel in a black finish, carried through the cap and the ceiling rose. From the app you can dim it, move the white light anywhere from 2700K, a warm white, to 6500K, a cool daylight white, and set the RGB LEDs to a colour of your choosing. It also works with a remote control, which is sold separately and is not in the box. There is no switch on the light itself, as it is switched at the wall. It runs on 220-240V mains, has an energy class of D and weighs 1.48KG packed. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.
