Description

The Mogano is a domed ceiling light in black steel that sits close to the ceiling on a round ceiling plate, with a single bulb held inside its wide, shallow shade. It measures 40cm across and stands 17cm tall overall, so it gives the room a generous shape without hanging down into the space. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 60W, and the bulb is not included, which leaves the choice of bulb to you. It is rated IP20, which means indoors and dry: living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and studies, never a bathroom or anywhere outdoors.

Because it fits close to the ceiling, the Mogano suits rooms where a pendant would crowd the space, such as a living room with a lower ceiling, a bedroom or a landing. The black dome sits comfortably with warm timber, pale walls and soft neutral furnishings alike, giving a clear, graphic shape overhead. The open underside sends light downwards and out across the room, and a decorative filament bulb inside becomes part of the look rather than something to hide.

The body is steel, finished in black, and the light has no switch of its own: it is switched at the wall. It runs from a 220-240V mains supply and is wired into the ceiling, so it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, it weighs 2.058KG. A soft, dry cloth keeps the dome free of dust, and whenever you change the bulb, choose one rated at 60W or less.
