Description

The Minster is a single-candle wall light with a scrolled black wrought iron arm extending from an oval backplate. The arm curves forward in a loose S-shape before terminating in a shallow drip tray and candle sleeve around a single E14 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately). The metal is finished in textured black with visible hammer marks and forged detailing along the backplate edge.

Designed for traditional and cottage-style interiors, the Minster works well in hallways, landings, dining rooms and bedrooms where wall-mounted task or accent lighting is needed. The shallow projection of approximately 180mm from the wall allows the fitting to be installed in narrower corridors without obstructing passage. The backplate dimensions of roughly 120mm x 80mm sit comfortably on standard wall surfaces without requiring reinforcement.

The wrought iron construction gives the fitting a solid 400g weight that feels substantial when handled, and the textured black finish hides fingerprints and minor scuffs better than polished or satin metal. The E14 lampholder accepts candle-shaped bulbs up to 60W, with most users pairing the Minster with a 4-6W warm-white LED candle bulb to replicate traditional candlelight. The open candle design allows full light output without a shade blocking downward or sideways throw.

Elstead Lighting manufactures the Minster as part of their traditional metalwork range, which includes matching multi-light chandeliers and pendants in the same scrollwork style. The black finish pairs cleanly with oak beams, whitewashed walls, exposed brick and darker wood furniture typical of period and country-house interiors.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does it take?

The Minster takes a single E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. A 4-6W warm-white LED candle bulb at 2700K replicates traditional candlelight and is the most popular choice with this fitting.

How far does it project from the wall?

The scrolled arm projects approximately 180mm from the wall surface to the front of the candle sleeve. This shallow projection suits narrower hallways and landings without obstructing passage.

Can it be dimmed?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb you pair with the fitting. If using an LED candle bulb, choose one marked as dimmable and confirm it matches your dimmer switch type (trailing edge or leading edge).

Are there matching fittings available?

Yes. Elstead Lighting produces the Minster in multi-light wall brackets, chandeliers and pendant versions with the same scrollwork detailing and black wrought iron finish. Search 'Minster Elstead' at Niori to see the full range.
