Description
This miniature mantel clock takes the shape of an old treadle sewing machine, with a small white dial set into the upright of the machine head. The head and arm carry a plated finish in antique silver, picked out with raised scrollwork, and a hand wheel with its drive belt sits at one end. The machine rests on a brown table top with a little two-knob drawer at one side, carried on an ornate black stand with a silver lattice foot pedal between the legs. The clock is made of metal alloy and stands 10.6cm tall, measuring 7.1cm along its longest side and 4.2cm along its shortest.
Its natural home is the mantelpiece, but it is just as happy on a bedside table, a bookshelf or a desk, where its compact footprint leaves room for everything else. In a sewing room or on a craft shelf it makes a cheerful nod to the work done there, and the clear black numbers and slim hands on the white dial are easy to read at a glance. As a freestanding clock on its own stand, it needs no wall and no fixings, so you can move it from room to room whenever you like.
Inside, a quartz movement drives the analogue hands, powered by one LR66 battery, which we include, so the clock is ready to keep time from the start. The battery sits behind a round cover at the back of the clock head, which makes a change simple when the time comes. To keep the plated metal looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth and steer clear of polishes and harsh cleaners, which can dull a plated finish. Set it beside a stack of fabric or a jar of buttons for a touch of vintage charm, or wrap it as a small, unusual gift that will be noticed on any shelf.

Frequently Asked
How big is the sewing machine clock?
It stands 10.6cm tall and measures 7.1cm along its longest side and 4.2cm along its shortest, so it fits on even a narrow mantelpiece or shelf.
Does it need a battery, and is one included?
It runs on one LR66 battery, and we include it, so the quartz movement is ready to keep time from the start.
What is the clock made of?
The clock is made of metal alloy with a plated finish in antique silver, set on a brown table top above an ornate black stand.
Does it hang on a wall or stand up?
It is a freestanding mantel clock on its own treadle stand, so it simply sits on a mantelpiece, shelf, desk or bedside table with no fixings needed.
How should I clean it?
Dust it gently with a soft dry cloth. We would avoid polishes and harsh cleaners, which can dull a plated metal finish over time.
