Description
This miniature helicopter mantel clock is a small metal model with a working clock set into the side of its cabin. The body is finished in deep navy, with a polished silver nose, silver landing skids and a silver four-blade rotor whose tips are picked out in yellow. White window panels run along the cabin, and the tail ends in a navy fin with a silver tail rotor, so the shape reads clearly as a helicopter from every angle. The clock face sits where a side window would be, with a white dial, black numbers from one to twelve and slim black hands. It stands 4.5cm tall, 11cm wide and 3.1cm deep, a true miniature that fits on the narrowest shelf.
Because it rests on its own skids, it needs no wall and no stand: set it on a desk, a bedside table, a bookshelf or the mantelpiece and it is ready to keep time. Its size suits the places a full-size clock would crowd, such as the corner of a study desk, the end of a row of books or a display cabinet. We like it in a home office, where a glance tells you the hour without reaching for a phone, and in a reading corner, where it brings a touch of fun to a shelf of hardbacks.
The clock runs on one LR66 battery, and the battery is included, so it is ready to set and start. The metal body has a glossy navy finish with bright silver detailing. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth and keep it away from water, as you would any small clock. As a gift it is easy to wrap and a pleasure to unwrap, and on a busy desk it adds a little character every time you glance at it.
