Description
This miniature gramophone mantel clock brings an old-fashioned record player to a shelf in shiny silver metal, finished down to the smallest detail. A wide flared horn rises on a curved arm above a ridged turntable, with a little tone arm resting on the platter, and a crank handle sits on one side of the cabinet. The square cabinet has scrolling corner details on its panels and stands on a stepped base with scalloped feet. Set into the front is a rectangular white dial with clear black numbers and black hands. It stands 9cm tall, 5.5cm wide and 6cm deep, small enough to sit in the palm of your hand.
As a mantel clock it is freestanding and needs no wall or hook, so it sits happily on a mantelpiece, a bookshelf, a desk or a bedside table. At 5.5cm wide it fits a crowded shelf between books and records, or a study desk where a full-size clock would take up too much room. The shiny silver finish picks up the light from a lamp or window and brings a little shine to a quiet corner of a living room, bedroom or study. Its vintage look sits as comfortably in a traditional room as in a modern one that likes a nod to the past.
The clock is made from metal with a shiny silver finish and runs on one LR66 battery, which is included, so you can set the time and place it straight away. To keep the shine bright, dust it with a soft dry cloth and handle it by the base rather than the horn to keep fingerprints off the finish. Set it beside a stack of old records or a few framed family photographs and we think it becomes a charming conversation piece that keeps the time, and a lovely small gift to wrap.
