Description
The Minerva is a 2-light wall light built from cascading strands of fine nickel-plated metal chains that hang in draped layers from a 30cm square backplate. Two G9 bulb fittings (sold separately) sit behind the chain curtain, each rated at up to 42W. The chains act as a diffuser, breaking and softening the light while adding movement and texture to the wall surface.
Designed for hallways, bedrooms, dressing rooms and formal dining spaces, the Minerva provides ambient rather than task lighting. The 30cm width and 16cm projection from the wall suit installation beside mirrors, in alcoves, or flanking a headboard where symmetry is needed. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations. The nickel finish carries a cool metallic tone that pairs with chrome, stainless steel, grey-toned interiors and marble surfaces.
The chain construction gives the fitting a 1.3kg weight despite its compact footprint, and the layered draping creates different visual effects depending on viewing angle and light level. When lit, the chains reflect and scatter the G9 bulb light across multiple strands, producing a softer wash than a bare bulb or solid shade would. The backplate mounts to a standard UK wall bracket and the chains are pre-attached, requiring no assembly beyond electrical connection.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Minerva take?
The Minerva takes two G9 capsule bulbs, each rated at up to 42W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with G9 LED bulbs between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for warm ambient light that complements the nickel finish.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating limits the Minerva to dry indoor locations only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, kitchens near sinks, or any area where it might be exposed to moisture or steam.
How far does it project from the wall?
The fitting projects 16cm from the wall when mounted. The chains hang vertically within that depth, so there is minimal forward protrusion beyond the backplate.
Are the chains detachable for cleaning?
The chains are pre-attached to the backplate and are not designed to be removed. To clean, turn off the power, allow the fitting to cool if recently lit, and dust gently with a soft dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, a barely-damp microfibre cloth can be used, but avoid soaking the metal or using household sprays.
