Description

The Mimo is a 170x80cm asymmetrical wall mirror with a freeform oval frame finished in hand-applied gold leaf over an MDF substrate. The frame traces an organic, off-centre curve that sits somewhere between a traditional oval and an artist's palette, giving the mirror a sculptural presence when hung. The mirror plate itself is bevelled at the edge, creating a shallow angled border that catches and refracts light at different angles depending on viewing position.

Designed for hallways, living room feature walls, above console tables and in bedrooms where a full-length mirror is needed, the Mimo can be hung in either vertical orientation depending on the wall space and desired visual flow. The 170cm height provides head-to-toe reflection when positioned 30-40cm above floor level. The gold leaf finish offers a warm metallic accent that pairs with both warm-toned timber interiors and cooler greys or whites, acting as a bridge between material palettes.

The hand-applied gold leaf finish means slight tonal variation and texture variation across the frame surface — this is characteristic of the finishing process rather than a defect. The MDF substrate keeps the overall weight to 21.6kg, which is manageable for installation on stud walls or solid masonry with appropriate fixings. Can it be hung horizontally?

The Mimo is designed to hang vertically in either orientation (wider end up or down). Horizontal mounting is not recommended as the asymmetric proportions are calibrated for vertical display.

What wall fixings are needed?

At 21.6kg, the mirror requires appropriate wall fixings rated for the substrate. On stud walls, use heavy-duty picture hangers fixed to studs. On solid masonry, use expanding wall plugs and mirror plates or D-rings. Fixings are not included.

Does the gold leaf finish tarnish?

Gold leaf applied to MDF and sealed does not tarnish in the same way solid metals do. The finish may collect dust or fingerprints over time — clean with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid water or household cleaners as they can damage the leaf.

Is the bevelled edge on all sides?

Yes. The mirror plate has a bevelled edge running continuously around the perimeter, creating a shallow angled border that refracts light and adds visual depth to the reflection.
