Description

The Miles is a single-light outdoor wall lantern built from coastal composite material with a painted satin nickel finish and a tapered clear seeded glass shade. The fitting measures 307mm tall by 153mm wide and projects 158mm from the wall, housing a single GU10 bulb. An 8W 3000K LED GU10 is included and fitted behind the glass at installation.

Designed for external porch lighting, patio walls and entrance canopies, the Miles carries an IP44 rating that protects against rain and dust intrusion when mounted vertically with the glass facing downward. The coastal composite construction resists rust and corrosion in salt air and high-moisture environments where traditional metal fittings deteriorate over time. The satin nickel finish provides a neutral metallic accent that pairs with both contemporary and transitional exterior schemes.

The seeded glass diffuses the GU10 beam into a softer wash of warm white light, reducing glare while maintaining enough downward illumination for safe passage along paths and steps. The glass shade is secured by two mounting screws visible at the base and top of the lantern body, allowing the shade to be removed for bulb replacement or cleaning. The composite body remains stable in both coastal and inland climates, maintaining its finish through seasonal temperature and humidity changes.

Hinkley backs the Miles with a 5-year guarantee covering material and finish defects. The fitting is suitable for integration into home automation systems when paired with a compatible GU10 smart bulb, though the included LED is a standard non-dimmable lamp.

The IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction, so the fitting can be mounted on walls exposed to wind-driven rain. For fully exposed locations with direct heavy rain, mount the lantern with the glass facing downward to prevent water pooling around the top seal.

Is the included LED dimmable?

The included 8W LED is a standard non-dimmable GU10. For dimming capability, replace the supplied bulb with a dimmable GU10 LED and pair the fitting with a compatible GU10-rated trailing-edge dimmer switch.
