Description

The Middlefield is a 3-light chandelier built around a teardrop-shaped frame of distressed solid wood paired with an iron rust finish on the metal components. Three candle-style E14 fittings sit on curved metal arms within the 406mm-diameter wood frame, which is suspended from a chain and canopy finished in matching iron rust. A carved wood finial anchors the base of the teardrop shape.

Designed for dining rooms, kitchen islands and entrance halls, the Middlefield suits both traditional farmhouse interiors and transitional spaces pairing rustic materials with cleaner lines. The 720mm minimum drop works in rooms with standard 2.4m ceilings when the pendant sits above a table, while the 2540mm chain length allows drops up to 3260mm for double-height spaces or vaulted ceilings. The chain is adjustable on installation and cannot be altered once fitted without re-wiring.

The distressed wood finish shows deliberate surface texture and tonal variation across the frame, giving each piece a weathered appearance. The iron rust finish on the metal canopy, chain and arms provides a dark reddish-brown tone that contrasts with the lighter wood. The three E14 bulbs (sold separately) can be paired with LED candle bulbs for energy efficiency or traditional filament bulbs to show visible filaments through clear glass. Maximum wattage per bulb is 60W.

The wood frame measures 660mm from top fixing point to the bottom of the finial, with the 406mm width giving a balanced teardrop proportion. The solid wood construction and steel frame give the chandelier substantial presence without overwhelming a typical 1.2-1.5m dining table. The distressed finish on the wood means minor surface marks blend into the existing texture rather than standing out as damage.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does the Middlefield take?

The chandelier uses three E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs, each up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for a traditional look, or choose clear-glass filament bulbs to show the visible filament.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

No. The chain length is set during installation and cannot be altered afterwards without removing the fitting and re-wiring. The 2540mm chain allows drops between 720mm and 3260mm, so measure the ceiling height and intended table clearance before fitting.

What table size does this chandelier suit?

The 406mm diameter suits dining tables between 1.2m and 1.8m long. For tables larger than 1.8m, consider pairing two Middlefield chandeliers in a row or choosing a larger-diameter fitting from the same range.

Is the distressed finish the same on every piece?

No. The distressed wood finish is applied by hand, so the pattern of surface marks, grain exposure and tonal variation differs between individual pieces. This is characteristic of distressed wood finishes, not a defect.
