Description

The POTHBMS is a plug-in microwave sensor designed for use with the Knightsbridge POTHB high bay LED range. The sensor detects movement within its coverage zone and automatically switches the high bay on or off, or dims it to a standby level when no movement is detected. The sensor fits into the base of compatible POTHB high bay fittings via a plug-in connector, requiring no additional wiring.

Designed for warehouses, workshops, retail stockrooms and industrial spaces where occupancy-based lighting control reduces energy waste, the sensor is fully programmable via the POTHBRC remote control (sold separately). Six parameters can be adjusted: brightness level (10-100%), sensitivity (to fine-tune detection range), hold-time (how long the light stays on after movement stops), daylight threshold (to prevent triggering in naturally-lit conditions), standby dimming level (the reduced brightness when the space is unoccupied), and standby timer (how long before dimming activates).

The sensor ships with default settings that allow immediate use without programming: 100% brightness, 100% sensitivity, 1-minute hold-time, daylight threshold disabled, 20% standby dimming, and 1-minute standby timer. These defaults suit most high-bay installations where quick activation and full brightness are needed. The polycarbonate housing carries an IP65 rating, making the sensor suitable for dusty or damp industrial environments. The Class II construction means no earth connection is required.

Frequently Asked

Is the POTHBRC remote control required to use this sensor?

No. The sensor works immediately out of the box with default settings: 100% brightness, 100% sensitivity, 1-minute hold-time, daylight threshold disabled, 20% standby dimming, and 1-minute standby timer. The POTHBRC remote (sold separately) is only needed if you want to adjust these parameters to suit specific occupancy patterns or energy-saving requirements.

Which POTHB high bay models is this sensor compatible with?

The POTHBMS is designed for the Knightsbridge POTHB high bay LED range. It connects via a plug-in socket on the fitting, so compatibility depends on the specific POTHB model having the sensor port. Check the POTHB high bay product page or contact us to confirm compatibility with your model.

What detection range does the microwave sensor provide?

Microwave sensors typically provide a 360-degree detection pattern with a range of 8-12 metres depending on mounting height and sensitivity setting. The sensitivity parameter can be reduced via the POTHBRC remote to narrow the detection zone and prevent false triggering from movement outside the controlled area.

Can the sensor be used in damp or dusty environments?

Yes. The polycarbonate housing carries an IP65 rating, providing protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets. This makes it suitable for warehouses, workshops and other industrial spaces where dust or occasional moisture are present.
