Description
The Knightsbridge M6000 is a metal clad 13A fused spur unit built from premium grade steel with a powder coated grey finish. The unit combines the fused spur switch and an integral metal back box in a single 82mm square housing, projecting 45mm from the wall when surface-mounted. The fused spur provides a switched and fused connection point for a fixed appliance, isolating it from the ring main via a 13A BS 1362 cartridge fuse.
Designed for workshop, garage, plant room and outdoor installation where recessed back boxes are impractical, the metal clad construction offers physical protection against impact and weather exposure rated to IP20 for indoor or covered outdoor locations. The unit is commonly used to supply fixed appliances such as boilers, extractor fans, water heaters, and outdoor security lighting. The white rocker switch marked 'FUSE' provides clear indication when the spur is isolated.
The premium grade steel construction provides greater durability than plastic equivalents in environments where tools, vehicles or equipment may contact the fitting. The powder coated grey finish resists corrosion and discolouration, maintaining a clean appearance in utility installations. The unit is supplied complete with the integral back box and is certified to BS 1363-4, with a 25-year warranty from Knightsbridge.

Frequently Asked
What is a fused spur used for?
A fused spur provides a switched and fused connection point for a fixed appliance, isolating it from the main ring circuit via a 13A BS 1362 cartridge fuse. It is used to supply boilers, extractor fans, water heaters, outdoor lighting and other permanently wired appliances that do not use a plug and socket.
Can this be used outdoors?
The IP20 rating means the unit is suitable for indoor use or covered outdoor locations where it is protected from direct water ingress. It is not suitable for fully exposed outdoor positions without additional weatherproof housing.
Does it require a back box?
No. The unit is supplied complete with an integral metal back box, allowing surface mounting directly onto masonry, blockwork or timber without the need for a separate recessed back box.
What fuse does it take?
The unit accepts a standard BS 1362 13A cartridge fuse, the same type used in UK 13A plugs. A fuse is typically included at purchase but should be verified on receipt.
