Description

The Messina is a 450mm diameter pendant chandelier with a natural linen drum shade enclosed by a geometric gold metal cage frame. Three E27 bulbs sit inside the shade behind a frosted glass diffuser at the base, distributing light through the linen weave and downwards through the diffuser. The gold finish on the metal frame, ceiling rose and chain gives the fitting a warm metallic accent that pairs with both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Designed for dining rooms, kitchen islands and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Messina combines ambient and decorative function. The adjustable drop from 190mm to 768mm allows the pendant to be set at the correct height above a dining table (typically 700-800mm clearance) or kitchen island. The linen shade softens the light and hides the bulbs from view when the chandelier is hung at eye level, while the geometric cage pattern casts subtle shadow detail onto walls and ceilings when lit.

The metal cage is formed from intersecting hexagonal panels that wrap around the cylindrical linen shade, creating a three-dimensional geometric pattern. The linen itself is a natural woven fabric with visible texture variation, so individual shades differ slightly in tone and weave density. The frosted glass diffuser at the base prevents glare from exposed filament bulbs and distributes light evenly downwards, making the Messina suitable for positioning over task surfaces as well as purely decorative use. The 40W per bulb rating (120W total) provides sufficient output for a 4-6 person dining table or a 3-4m kitchen island.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop ranges from 190mm to 768mm. For a dining table the pendant typically sits 700-800mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings can accommodate the Messina if the chain is shortened to the minimum 190mm drop during fitting.

Is the linen shade removable for cleaning?

Yes. The linen shade sits inside the metal cage frame and can be lifted out for dusting or spot cleaning. Use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner for regular dust removal, or gently spot-clean marks with a barely-damp cloth and allow to air-dry fully before refitting.

Can it be used with a dimmer?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs used. The fitting itself is compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs when paired with a trailing-edge LED dimmer. Check the bulb specifications before pairing with a dimmer switch.
