Description

The Messe is a 960mm diameter semi-flush ceiling light built from polished chrome wire curves that sweep and loop in three dimensions, each wire terminating in a faceted crystal sphere. Twenty-four G4 bulbs sit within the wire structure, and the crystals catch and refract their light in multiple directions. The fixture hangs from a polished chrome ceiling plate, with a minimum drop of 1110mm from ceiling to lowest point.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Messe works over dining tables, in double-height entrance halls, or as a centrepiece in open-plan living areas where the ceiling can accommodate both the diameter and the drop. The semi-flush mount means it sits closer to the ceiling than a full suspension pendant, but the 1110mm minimum drop still requires headroom — this is not suited to standard 2.3m ceiling heights without risk of head clearance issues. The 960mm diameter needs space around it: a minimum 3.5m room width allows comfortable visual balance.

Each polished chrome wire is a separate curved element radiating from the central cluster, creating depth rather than a flat two-dimensional silhouette. The faceted crystal spheres are distributed across the outer reaches of the wires and around the central core, so when lit the structure appears as a cloud of refracted light points rather than a single unified glow. The polished chrome reflects ambient daylight when unlit and multiplies the sparkle when the bulbs are on. At 15.3kg the fixture needs secure ceiling fixings into a joist or reinforced mounting point, not just plasterboard alone.

The minimum drop from ceiling to lowest crystal is 1110mm. In a room with a 2.4m ceiling height, the lowest point of the fixture would hang at approximately 1.29m from the floor, which is below head height for most adults. This fixture is better suited to ceilings of 2.7m or higher, or to positions over a table where the drop does not create a head clearance issue.

Are the bulbs included?

Yes. The fixture ships with 24 G4 bulbs rated at up to 20W each, already installed. G4 bulbs are small capsule-style bulbs commonly used in decorative and accent lighting.

Is it dimmable?

No. The Messe is not compatible with dimmer switches as supplied. The included G4 bulbs are non-dimmable and the fixture is not rated for dimmer operation.

What fixing is required for the weight?

At 15.3kg, the Messe must be fixed into a ceiling joist or a reinforced mounting point capable of supporting at least 20kg. Plasterboard alone will not hold this weight safely. If the ceiling rose position does not align with a joist, a spreader plate or reinforced mounting block should be installed behind the plasterboard before the fixture is hung.
