Description

The Mercury Fig 8 is a twin-core figure-8 power and speaker cable with 79 strands per core (40 copper, 39 copper-clad aluminium), giving a combined cross-sectional area of 2.01mm² per conductor. The red and black PVC sheath runs the full 100m length on the reel, with the two cores joined along a central web that splits cleanly when terminating.

Designed for low-voltage automotive wiring, in-car audio installation, PA speaker runs and low-power 12V DC circuits, the cable handles up to 20A continuous current per conductor. The figure-8 profile keeps polarity clear during installation and the joined cores prevent tangling when pulling cable through confined spaces or conduit. Can this cable be used for mains 230V AC?

How do I separate the two cores?

The red and black cores are joined by a central web of PVC. Pull the cores apart by hand or cut the web with a knife — the web is designed to split cleanly without damaging the individual core insulation.
