Description

The Mercury is an 8-gang extension lead with built-in surge protection, individual neon indicators on each outlet and a 2m mains cable. Each of the eight UK 3-pin sockets carries an independent red neon that illuminates when the socket is switched on, making it clear at a glance which outlets are live. The surge protection circuitry monitors incoming voltage and diverts spikes to earth, protecting connected equipment from mains surges.

Designed for workshop benches, office desks, home studios and anywhere multiple appliances or devices need to be powered from a single wall outlet, the Mercury sits flat on a surface or can be wall-mounted using the two keyhole slots on the rear. The 13A total load capacity is shared across all eight outlets, so the combined draw of all connected devices must not exceed 3,120W. The 2m cable gives reach from a wall socket to the centre of a standard desk or workbench without needing to position furniture against the wall.

The white thermoplastic housing measures 330 x 120 x 30mm and weighs 420g, giving it enough mass to sit stable on a desk without sliding when plugs are inserted or removed. The non-rewireable construction meets BS1363-2 and BS5733 standards for UK mains extension leads. The surge indicator LED on the front panel confirms that the protection circuitry is active; if this LED goes out, the surge protection has been compromised and the unit should be replaced.
