Description

The Mercury 6-gang extension lead provides six UK 13A sockets on a 2m white cable, terminated with a standard UK 13A plug. The unit complies with BS1363/A safety regulations, covering socket spacing, terminal construction and cable ratings for UK mains use. Each of the six sockets accepts standard UK three-pin plugs, and the total load across all sockets must not exceed 13A at 230V.

Designed for home offices, living rooms and workspaces where multiple devices need power from a single wall socket, the 2m cable length allows the extension lead to sit on a desk, behind a TV unit, or alongside a computer setup without excess cable coiling on the floor. The white housing sits flush on most surfaces and the cable gauge is rated for continuous 13A draw without overheating under normal operating conditions.

The six sockets are arranged in a single row along the top face of the housing, with enough spacing between each aperture to accommodate standard UK plugs side-by-side. The extension lead does not include individual socket switches or surge protection. It functions as a straightforward multiplier for a single wall outlet. The unit is suitable for powering computers, monitors, printers, routers, TVs, set-top boxes and similar low-to-medium draw household electronics.

Frequently Asked

What's the maximum total load?

The extension lead is rated at 13A across all six sockets combined. At 230V this equates to approximately 3,000W total. If you plug in six devices, the sum of their power draws must not exceed 13A or the fuse in the plug will blow.

Does it have individual socket switches?

No. The Mercury 6-gang lead has six unswitched sockets. To turn off individual devices you switch them off at the device itself or unplug them. There is no master switch on the extension lead.

Is it surge protected?

No. This is a standard extension lead without surge protection or filtering. For sensitive electronics such as computers or AV equipment in areas prone to power spikes, consider a surge-protected extension lead or a separate surge protector.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The Mercury 6-gang lead is not weatherproof and carries no IP rating. It is designed for indoor use only, in dry environments away from moisture and direct water contact.
