Description

The Mercury 4-gang extension lead provides four UK 13A sockets behind a white moulded housing, connected to a 2m cable terminated in a 13A UK plug. Integrated surge protection guards connected devices against mains voltage spikes caused by lightning strikes, grid switching or faulty appliances switching off under load.

Designed for home offices, living rooms and AV setups where multiple devices need mains power from a single wall outlet, the 2m cable length allows the extension to sit on a desk, behind a TV stand or next to a sofa without stretching. The four sockets are spaced to accommodate standard UK plugs side-by-side, and keyhole slots on the rear of the housing allow the unit to be wall-mounted if preferred, keeping cables off the floor.

The surge protection circuitry inside the housing diverts excess voltage away from connected equipment when a spike occurs, reducing the risk of damage to computers, routers, gaming consoles, televisions and audio equipment. The 13A rating allows a combined load of up to 3,120W across all four outlets, sufficient for typical household and office equipment. The unit conforms to BS1363/A and BS5733 standards and has been tested to IEC61051, CECC 42200 and CECC 42201.

Frequently Asked

What does the surge protection do?

The surge protection circuitry diverts excess voltage away from connected equipment when a mains spike occurs, such as from lightning strikes, grid switching or appliances switching off under load. This reduces the risk of damage to sensitive electronics like computers, TVs and routers.

What's the maximum total load across all four sockets?

The extension lead is rated at 13A on 230V mains, giving a combined maximum load of 3,120W across all four outlets. Exceeding this may trip the fuse in the plug or cause overheating.

Can it be wall-mounted?

Yes. The rear of the housing has keyhole slots for wall mounting, allowing the extension to be fixed to a wall behind a desk or TV stand to keep cables off the floor.

Is the surge protection indicated in any way?

Check the product casing for a surge protection indicator light. Some models include an LED that shows when surge protection is active, while others do not provide visual confirmation. Refer to any included documentation or contact us if clarification is needed.
