Description

The Mercury 4-gang extension lead provides four UK 13A sockets on a 2m mains cable with a moulded 13A plug. The extension is rated to BS1363/A and built to handle a maximum combined load of 13A across all four outlets, which translates to 2,990W at 230V mains. The black polycarbonate housing includes two keyhole mounting slots on the rear for wall or underdesk installation.

Designed for home offices, workshops and residential rooms where socket availability is limited, the 2m cable length allows the extension to reach from a wall socket to a desk surface, workbench or behind a media unit without excess cable slack. The four outlets are spaced at standard intervals, accepting UK three-pin plugs for computers, monitors, printers, lamps and small kitchen appliances. The housing footprint is approximately 260mm x 60mm, compact enough to sit on a desk without dominating the workspace.

The moulded cable entry prevents strain on the internal connections during repositioning, and the black finish blends into typical home and office environments without standing out visually. Each socket opening is recessed to prevent accidental contact with live pins during insertion or removal of plugs. The extension carries no built-in surge protection or switches. It is a straightforward mains extension for increasing outlet count where needed.

Frequently Asked

What is the maximum load across all four sockets?

The extension is rated to 13A total across all four outlets combined. This is approximately 2,990W at 230V mains. Plugging four high-draw appliances simultaneously may exceed this limit, so calculate individual appliance wattages to avoid overload.

Can the extension be wall-mounted?

Yes. The rear of the housing includes two keyhole mounting slots. Use appropriate wall fixings for the surface type. Typically 4mm screws with heads large enough to hold the unit in place once slotted over the screw shanks.

Does it have surge protection or individual switches?

No. This is a basic mains extension lead with no surge protection, filtering or per-outlet switching. For surge-protected or switched extensions, see the other models in the AVSL range.

Is the cable flex rated for outdoor use?

No. This extension is designed for indoor use only. The cable and housing carry no IP rating and are not weatherproof. For outdoor power distribution use a product rated IP44 or higher.
