Description

The Mercury 4-gang extension lead provides four additional 13A sockets on a 1m white cable terminated with a standard UK 3-pin plug. The unit is rated at 13A total load across all four outlets and complies with BS1363/A, the UK standard for socket outlets and plugs. Each socket accepts standard UK 3-pin plugs and the red neon indicator switches on each outlet show at a glance which sockets are live.

Designed for close-range power distribution, the 1m cable suits desktops, bedside tables, kitchen counters and small workshop benches where additional outlets are needed within arm's reach of an existing wall socket. The compact housing sits flat on a surface or can be cable-tied to a desk leg or shelf support. The short cable reduces trip hazards and cable clutter compared to longer extension leads in tight spaces.

The white ABS housing resists everyday knocks and the moulded cable entry strain-relieves the connection between cable and body. The four outlets are spaced to allow three standard UK plugs to be inserted simultaneously, with the fourth outlet typically blocked if a transformer or USB charging brick is used in the adjacent position. The 13A total load rating means the combined wattage of all connected devices must not exceed 3,000W, which comfortably handles typical desktop setups of monitor, laptop charger, desk lamp and phone charger.

Frequently Asked

What is the total load rating?

The extension lead is rated at 13A total across all four outlets. This means the combined wattage of all connected devices must not exceed 3,000W. A typical desktop setup of monitor, laptop charger, desk lamp and phone charger draws well under this limit.

Does each socket have individual switching?

Yes. Each of the four outlets has a red neon rocker switch that controls power to that socket independently. This allows devices to be left plugged in but powered off when not in use.

Can all four outlets be used at the same time?

The outlet spacing allows three standard UK plugs to be inserted simultaneously. The fourth outlet may be blocked if a large transformer or USB charging brick is plugged into an adjacent socket. Four slim plugs can typically all fit.

Is the cable long enough for under-desk use?

The 1m cable is designed for close-range use where the wall socket is within a metre of the desk surface. For under-desk mounting where the wall socket is further away, a 2m or 3m extension lead may be more suitable.
