Description
The Mentakab is a framed abstract wall art panel, hand-painted on canvas and layered with textured fabric. A deep brown arc fills the upper corner, a white sweep cuts across the centre, ridged cream arcs curve down one side and a broad beige field takes up the rest, all in a warm, earthy palette of cream, beige and brown. The fabric edges are left softly frayed against a white border, so the texture shows close up as well as from across the room. It is a portrait shape, 42cm wide and 52cm tall, and only 3.2cm deep in its slim frame, so it sits neatly against the wall.
As a piece of decor it belongs indoors, and the earthy colours give it plenty of homes: above a sideboard or console in the living room, over a bed, along a hallway or beside a reading chair. The neutral tones sit comfortably with natural wood, rattan and linen, and against plain painted walls the brown arc gives the eye somewhere to rest. At this size it suits a single spot over a small piece of furniture, or a gallery wall where you want texture rather than more colour. If you love the look of tactile, handmade art but find a large canvas too much for the space, this is a sensible size to choose.
Because it is hand-painted, the colour and texture are real paint and fabric on canvas rather than a printed copy. The frame is plastic, the back is wood, and the whole panel weighs just 0.9KG, so it is easy to lift into place and simple to move to another room whenever you fancy a change. Before hanging it, hold it against the wall at eye level to judge the spacing, leaving a little air between the frame and the furniture.
