Melany 1 Light Pendant - Black Mesh Copper

The Melany is a 37cm wide pendant light formed from fine black mesh stretched over a curved metal frame, with a satin copper canopy and central fitting. The mesh structure allows light to pass through while casting geometric shadow patterns onto surrounding surfaces, turning the shade itself into both a light diffuser and a decorative element. The pendant takes a single E27 bulb up to 20W (sold separately).

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls where sculptural form adds visual interest without overwhelming the space, the Melany works as a single pendant over a 4-6 person dining table or in pairs or threes along a larger island. The adjustable drop ranges from 40cm to 150cm, allowing the pendant to be set 70-80cm above a dining surface in rooms with standard 2.4m ceilings, or higher in double-height spaces. The copper canopy fits standard UK ceiling roses and the cable run is concealed inside the black flex.

The matte black mesh finish absorbs ambient light during the day, making the pendant appear as a dark sculptural object, while the satin copper adds warmth and contrast against the black frame. When lit, the mesh diffuses the bulb's output in all directions, creating a softer ambient spread than clear glass or metal shades. The 0.69kg weight keeps the pendant stable on the cable without needing additional support, and the IP20 rating suits dry interior locations.

What bulb does the Melany take?

The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 20W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W at 2700K to complement the copper finish and enhance the shadow patterns cast by the mesh.

How is the drop adjusted?

The cable length is adjustable on installation between 40cm and 150cm from the ceiling. The pendant is typically set 70-80cm above a dining table surface, or higher in double-height entrance halls. Once set, the drop remains fixed unless re-adjusted during maintenance.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the Melany is suitable for dry interior locations only — living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways and kitchens. It is not rated for bathroom zones or outdoor use.

How is the mesh cleaned?

Wipe the mesh gently with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but avoid soaking the metal and do not use household sprays or chemical cleaners on the matte black finish.
