The Mediterraneo is a 500mm frosted glass flush ceiling or wall light with a wave-textured shade housing three E27 bulb fittings. The shade is moulded with flowing horizontal ripples that catch and diffuse light across the surface, turning the glass itself into a sculptural element rather than a simple diffuser. A white metal back plate provides the mounting infrastructure and conceals the wiring behind a flush 180mm-deep profile.

Designed to work on either ceilings or walls, the Mediterraneo suits rooms where a low-profile fitting is needed without sacrificing visual presence — bedrooms with lower ceilings (2.2-2.4m), entrance halls, landings, or above-door positions where a pendant would hang too low. The 500mm diameter provides sufficient spread for rooms up to 12-15m², with the three E27 bulbs distributed behind the glass to avoid visible hotspots when the light is on. The flush mount sits within 180mm of the surface, keeping the fitting clear of head height even in corridor or hallway applications.

The frosted glass is moulded rather than sandblasted, creating a consistent wave pattern across the entire 500mm diameter without variation between production runs. The white finish on the metal back plate matches standard ceiling paint tones, allowing the fitting to sit cleanly against most ceilings without drawing attention to the mounting hardware. At 5.5kg the light requires secure fixing into a solid joist or ceiling anchor — the fixing points are drilled into the back plate rather than through the glass itself, which remains removable for bulb changes and cleaning.

Can this be fitted on a wall as well as a ceiling?

Yes. The Mediterraneo mounts flush to either surface using the same white metal back plate. On walls it works well as an above-door fitting, a corridor wash light, or flanking a bathroom mirror where steam and moisture are not excessive (the fitting does not carry an IP rating).

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The light takes three E27 bulbs (sold separately). Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K. The maximum wattage per bulb is stated in the fitting instructions supplied with the product.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 180mm projection from ceiling to base of shade makes the Mediterraneo suitable for rooms with ceiling heights from 2.2m upwards, where a pendant would hang into head space.

How is the glass cleaned?

The frosted glass shade lifts off the back plate once the retaining fixings are loosened, allowing the glass to be wiped separately with a damp microfibre cloth and glass cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the moulded wave texture.
