Description

The Mediterraneo is a 37cm flush ceiling or wall light with a sculpted frosted white glass shade that wraps around two E27 bulb fittings (sold separately). The glass shade sits 140mm proud of the ceiling or wall when fitted, with organic horizontal grooves that reference ocean waves or sand ripples, giving the light a natural form rather than a geometric one.

Designed for both ceiling and wall mounting, the Mediterraneo suits bedrooms, hallways and living areas with ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.6m where a low-profile fitting is needed. The frosted glass diffuses light evenly across the room rather than producing a directed beam, making it ambient rather than task lighting. When wall-mounted, the fitting works as wash lighting in corridors or as a secondary light source in living rooms.

The glass shade weighs 2.5kg and mounts to a satin nickel back plate that fixes to a standard ceiling rose or wall box. The grooved glass surface catches light differently depending on viewing angle, so the shade appearance shifts as you move through the room. Bulb choice defines the colour temperature. Warm white E27 LED bulbs between 2700K and 3000K create a softer ambient effect, while cooler 4000K bulbs give sharper definition to the wave pattern.

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The Mediterraneo takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm white LED bulbs between 6W and 10W at 2700K-3000K for ambient bedroom or hallway lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, if you fit dimmable E27 bulbs and connect the light to a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself supports dimming but the bulbs must also be dimmer-rated.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The specification does not list an IP rating, which means the Mediterraneo is not rated for wet or humid zones. It should only be used in bathrooms where it sits outside zones 1 and 2 (typically more than 600mm from a bath or shower enclosure) and where moisture levels remain low.

How is the glass cleaned?

Switch off the light and allow the bulbs to cool. Wipe the frosted glass gently with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but avoid soaking the glass or using household sprays near the bulb sockets.
