Description

Medina is a wall light in white and black. A wide white pleated shade, conical and open at the bottom, hung from a black scissor arm made of flat metal slats crossed in a lattice and pinned with bright rivets, so it pulls out from the wall and folds back flat. The pleats are fine and regular and run from a small gathered crown out to a broad rim, and the fabric is thin enough to glow through. A black holder grips the shade at the outer end of the lattice and a black flex runs back along the arm and down the wall on show. The bracket is a slim black plate with a polished slide. The arm is a scissor action on a wall plate, and it extends and folds back in against the wall.

A wall light earns its place by leaving the surface below it clear. Beside a bed where there is no room for a table lamp, over a work bench, up a stairwell or either side of a mirror, it gives directed light without taking up any space. Fix it at about 1.5m from the floor beside a bed and a little higher flanking a mirror, so the light falls on the face rather than into the eyes of anyone standing in front of it.

The holder is E27 and takes up to 40W. It wires into a fixed outlet at a terminal block, which is work for a competent electrician. It is class II, double insulated, so it needs no earth, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Yes, on a compatible dimmer, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. The fitting has no dimmer of its own.

Yes. It wires into a fixed outlet at a terminal block.

Does it need an earth?

No. It is class II, double insulated, so it is wired live and neutral only.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
