Description

The Mayflower is a 3 light semi-flush ceiling fitting in olde bronze with etched amber glass shades held in a yoke-mount frame. The 381mm diameter bowl sits 305mm below the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2-2.6m where a full pendant drop would hang too low. Each of the three E27 sockets takes bulbs up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for entrance halls, landings, low-ceilinged dining rooms and bedrooms, the Mayflower provides ambient light from a fitting that stays close to the ceiling plane. The etched amber glass diffuses the bulb glare and casts a warm tonal light across the room. The decorative cast tension knobs at the base of the yoke mounts and the turned stem above the glass bowl give the fitting a traditional profile that suits period properties, country interiors and transitional schemes.

The olde bronze finish is a dark, warm metallic with deliberate tonal variation applied during finishing to mimic aged brass or bronze. The etched treatment on the amber glass softens the surface and reduces glare while maintaining translucency. The yoke-mount design means the glass shades can be removed for bulb changes or cleaning without disconnecting the fitting from the ceiling rose. The Mayflower takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for a traditional warm glow through the amber glass.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 305mm drop from ceiling to base of fitting suits rooms with ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.6m. In rooms with higher ceilings a pendant light may be more appropriate; in rooms with lower ceilings this semi-flush provides ambient light without protruding excessively into the headspace.

Can the glass shades be removed for cleaning?

Yes. The yoke-mount design allows the amber glass shades to be lifted out of the frame for bulb changes or cleaning without disconnecting the fitting from the ceiling rose. The etched glass can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and dried immediately.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs used. LED bulbs must be marked as dimmable and paired with an LED-compatible dimmer. Traditional incandescent or halogen bulbs (up to 60W) are dimmable with standard dimmer switches.
