Description
The Mayflower is a single-light mini pendant from Hinkley, built around a 127mm-diameter etched amber glass shade held in a yoke-mount frame finished in olde bronze. The yoke arms cradle the glass at two opposing points, leaving the shade visible from all angles while providing mechanical support. A decorative cast tension knob sits at each arm junction, adding period detail to the industrial-traditional crossover style.
Designed for kitchen islands, breakfast bars, dining tables and hallway runs, the Mayflower suits installations where multiple pendants are hung in a line or cluster. The 330-1080mm adjustable drop allows the pendant to be set anywhere from 600mm above a worktop up to higher ceiling positions, and the rod-based suspension system can be shortened on installation to suit ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. The E27 socket accepts standard LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W (sold separately).
The olde bronze finish is a hand-applied patina that gives the metal a darker, aged appearance compared to standard oil-rubbed or antique bronze — closer to charcoal than warm brown. The etched amber glass diffuses the bulb while casting a warm honey-toned light when lit, softening the metal's darker tone. The combined shade and yoke-mount frame give the fitting a compact 127mm footprint, making it suitable for narrower islands and smaller dining tables where a larger pendant would dominate.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Mayflower take?
The pendant uses a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to complement the amber glass tone.
Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?
No. The drop is set during installation by cutting the suspension rod to the required length between 330mm and 1080mm. Once installed, the height cannot be adjusted without re-fitting.
How many pendants are needed for a kitchen island?
For a typical 1.2-1.5m island, two Mayflower pendants spaced 600-800mm apart provide balanced task and ambient light. Wider islands (1.8m+) may benefit from three pendants spaced evenly along the length.
What's the difference between olde bronze and antique bronze?
Olde bronze is a darker, charcoal-toned patina finish compared to the warmer brown of typical antique bronze. It pairs well with cooler greys and industrial interiors, while antique bronze leans towards traditional warm-toned schemes.
