Description

Maya is a compact pendant in anthracite, small enough to hang singly over a worktop or in a row without crowding the space above it. The body measures 18cm across, and the drop is adjustable across a generous span, so it can sit low over a table or high in a hallway. Behind the shade is an E27 lampholder, happy with an LED GLS or tubular lamp up to 20W, and with a suitable lamp and dimmer on the circuit the light can be taken down as the evening goes on.

The fitting is sealed against dust and splashing water, which takes it well beyond the usual living room pendant. We would hang it above a bathroom basin, in a utility room, over a kitchen sink, or under a covered porch by a back door where a plain open shade would not last. It is the one we reach for when a room gets steam or the odd splash but still wants a proper hanging light rather than something pressed to the ceiling. Ambient light is what it gives, soft and general, so pair it with task lighting where you chop or read.

The anthracite is a deep near-black grey that sits quietly against a pale ceiling and does not show every fingerprint. Keep it simple in use: cut the power, wipe the outside with a barely damp cloth, dry it off, and stay away from scouring pads and solvents that would dull the finish. It carries a two year warranty. The same anthracite runs through the rest of the Maya range we stock, including a ceiling fitting, wall lights and a pedestal lamp, so a kitchen, a landing and the path outside can all read as one family.
