The Marywell is a table lamp with a slim black steel body and a wide, flat wooden shade in a natural brown. A round base carries a stem that rises straight and then curves forward, so the shade tilts over the bulb like a broad brim. The shade has a woven herringbone pattern, finished with a black rim that ties it back to the stem and base. It stands 46.5cm tall, 30cm wide and 29cm long, on a base 18cm in diameter. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W, which is not included, so the choice of light is yours. Rated IP20, it belongs indoors in a dry room.

The shade sits over the bulb rather than around it, so the bulb stays on show beneath the brim, which is why a decorative globe filament bulb suits it so well. That makes it a good choice for a bedside table, a living room side table, a hallway console or a desk in a study, anywhere you want a lamp that looks as considered switched off as it does lit.
