Description

The Marea is a 560mm semi-flush ceiling light with a curved matt black copper frame wrapping a teardrop-shaped natural Spanish alabaster diffuser. An integrated 16W LED sits behind the stone and casts warm 3000K light through the alabaster, lifting the natural veining and softening the silhouette of the fitting against the ceiling. Overall dimensions are 560mm long, 480mm wide and 300mm deep.

The semi-flush profile suits rooms with ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.6m, where a hanging pendant would feel too low but a fully recessed downlight would lack presence. Bedrooms, hallways, landings and dining areas are typical applications, and the fitting also works in compact hospitality spaces such as boutique hotel corridors and reading nooks. The ceiling plate fits standard UK junction boxes for direct mains wiring.

Solid copper gives the frame weight and a smooth cast finish under the matt black powder coating, while the natural alabaster diffuser is cut from a single piece of stone, so each fitting carries its own pattern of mineral veining. The asymmetric curve of the frame reads as a single sculpted line rather than a separate body and shade, and the contrast between the dark frame and the pale lit stone is the defining visual feature when the light is on.

Is the Marea suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 300mm overall depth and semi-flush profile make it well suited to ceilings between 2.2m and 2.6m, where a hanging pendant would feel too low. It works in bedrooms, hallways and landings without intruding on head height.

Does it come with a bulb?

The light source is a built-in integrated LED rated at 16W and 3000K (warm white) running on 230V mains. There is no replaceable bulb — the LED is part of the fitting.

Is the alabaster identical on every fitting?

No. Each diffuser is cut from a single piece of natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tone and translucency vary between fittings. This is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Marea is not supplied with a bathroom IP rating, so it should be installed in dry indoor locations only. For bathroom installations, choose a fitting with a stated IP44 or higher rating in the relevant zone.
