Mare Wall Light - Gold with 40cm Hammered Mirror Glass Disc

The Mare is a 40cm wall light built around a circular hammered mirror glass disc mounted on a gold-finished metal bracket. The hammered surface texture across the mirror glass creates an irregular ripple pattern that catches and scatters light in multiple directions, turning the disc itself into both reflector and decorative element. A single G9 bulb sits behind the disc on a 13cm projection bracket, casting light backwards onto the wall where it reflects off the mirrored surface.

Designed for hallways, staircases, bedroom accent walls and living room side walls where indirect light is needed without a strong downward beam, the Mare works as ambient wash lighting rather than task lighting. The 40cm diameter gives the fitting presence on walls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, while the 13cm bracket depth means it projects less than typical swing-arm or articulated wall lights. The gold bracket provides a warm metallic accent that pairs with brass door furniture, picture frames and warm-toned interiors.

The hammered texture on the mirror glass is formed during manufacturing by pressing the molten glass against a textured mould surface, creating a pattern of shallow dimples and facets across the disc. Each facet catches light at a slightly different angle, so the reflected pattern shifts as you move past the fitting. The IP20 rating limits the Mare to dry indoor locations — bedrooms, hallways, living rooms — and excludes bathrooms or outdoor use. The G9 bulb (sold separately) allows choice of warm-white LED or halogen up to 40W depending on the brightness and colour temperature needed.

What bulb does the Mare take?

The fitting takes a single G9 capsule bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED G9 between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for ambient wall wash lighting.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the Mare is only suitable for dry indoor rooms — bedrooms, hallways, living rooms. It cannot be used in bathrooms or any location where it may be exposed to moisture.

How far does it project from the wall?

The bracket projects 13cm from the wall surface to the centre of the glass disc. Allow an additional 2-3cm clearance behind the disc for the bulb housing.

Does the hammered glass pattern vary between fittings?

The hammered texture is formed during glass manufacturing and follows a consistent pattern across production runs. Minor variations in the depth and distribution of facets are normal and part of the forming process.
