Mantle 2 Light Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Weathered Brass

The Mantle is a 327mm semi-flush ceiling light with a prismatic glass dome diffuser held within a weathered brass frame. The fitting sits 246mm below the ceiling on three curved brass arms that arc down from the ceiling rose to the drum housing, placing the light source close enough for low-ceiling rooms while keeping the glass dome clear of head height. Two E27 bulbs inside the prismatic glass (sold separately) scatter light through the moulded pattern, softening the output into a diffuse ambient glow.

Designed for hallways, bedroom ceilings, kitchen ceilings and entrance halls with ceiling heights from 2.2m to 2.7m, the Mantle provides functional overhead lighting without the drop required by a pendant. The prismatic glass pattern refracts light into multiple directions, reducing harsh shadows and creating a soft wash across the ceiling and upper walls. The semi-flush format keeps the fitting compact enough for stairwell landings and corridors where a full pendant would intrude on head clearance.

The weathered brass finish gives a subdued, aged-metal tone that pairs with traditional, vintage-inspired and transitional interiors. The finish shows subtle tonal variation across the metal surfaces, appearing darker in recesses and lighter on high points, which adds depth without the high shine of polished brass. The prismatic glass dome is clear when unlit and becomes opaque when the bulbs are on, hiding the bulb filaments from direct view while allowing the moulded pattern to become visible as backlit texture.

The 327mm footprint suits rooms from 3m x 3m upwards, providing enough light output for a small bedroom or hallway when paired with two warm-white LED bulbs at 8-10W each. The fitting accepts any standard E27 bulb up to 60W per socket, giving flexibility to choose colour temperature and brightness based on the room's use.

What bulbs does it take?

The Mantle takes two standard E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs at 8-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient bedroom or hallway lighting.

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting projects 246mm below the ceiling, so it suits ceiling heights from 2.2m upwards. In a room with a 2.4m ceiling, the base of the glass dome sits at approximately 2.15m, providing adequate head clearance for circulation.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb choice. If you fit dimmable LED bulbs and pair them with a compatible LED dimmer switch, the Mantle can be dimmed. The fitting itself has no electronic components that would prevent dimming.

How is the glass cleaned?

The prismatic glass can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth when the power is off and the bulbs have cooled. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the metal frame or getting water into the lampholder sockets.
