Description

The Manhattan is a 490mm outdoor pedestal lantern with a stepped pagoda-style roof and four clear glass panels held in an oil rubbed bronze die-cast metal frame. The lantern houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and mounts on a cast plinth designed to fit standard post-top bases or pier caps. The IP44 rating protects the internal fitting from rain and splashes when installed correctly.

Designed for driveway pillars, garden gate posts, pathway markers and entrance piers, the Manhattan provides functional perimeter lighting with a traditional lantern profile. The clear glass panels allow light to radiate in all directions rather than concentrating it downward, making the fitting visible from approaching vehicles and pedestrians. The 235mm square footprint suits standard brick pier caps and post tops between 200-250mm square.

The oil rubbed bronze finish is applied by hand over die-cast aluminium, giving a dark bronze with subtle warm undertones that weather naturally outdoors. The stepped roof design channels rainwater away from the glass panels and the internal bulb chamber. The glass is held in a removable frame secured by corner posts, allowing bulb access without dismantling the entire fitting. Pair with a warm-white LED filament E27 bulb for a traditional aesthetic or a standard LED for higher lumen output.

IP44 means the lantern is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water splashes from any direction. It is suitable for outdoor installation exposed to rain but should not be submerged or pressure-washed.

What bulb should I use?

The lantern takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb around 6-8W and 2700K for a traditional look, or a standard LED for higher brightness. Bulbs are sold separately.

What post size does it fit?

The 235mm square base suits standard brick pier caps and timber post tops between 200-250mm square. The plinth base has fixing points for secure mounting to the post top.

How is the bulb accessed for replacement?

The glass frame is removable. Unscrew the corner posts to lift the glass assembly away from the base, giving access to the E27 bulb holder inside.
