Description

The Mane is an 11cm square outdoor LED wall light built from matt black aluminium with an integrated 3W 3000K LED behind a high-strength plastic diffuser. The light casts a warm downward wash onto the wall surface below, making it suited to marking pathways, flanking entrance doors, or spacing along low garden walls and fences where step-free wayfinding is needed after dark.

The IP54 rating protects the LED module and wiring from rain and dust ingress, allowing the fitting to be installed on exposed exterior walls without a canopy or overhang. The shallow 3.2cm projection from the wall keeps the fitting unobtrusive on narrow passages and beside doorways where clearance matters. The aluminium body dissipates heat from the LED without needing additional ventilation slots, keeping the sealed enclosure effective throughout the year.

The matt black finish absorbs daylight rather than reflecting it, so the fitting remains visually recessive on dark-painted walls, brick, render and timber cladding during the day. At night the 3000K LED output provides enough light to define wall edges and steps without creating harsh hotspots or glare across adjacent windows. The 3W consumption allows multiple fittings to be run on a single outdoor circuit without overloading typical domestic lighting transformers.

What does IP54 mean in practical terms?

IP54 means the fitting is protected against dust ingress and splashing water from any direction. It can be installed on exposed exterior walls without a canopy, but should not be submerged or subjected to direct high-pressure hosing.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The 3W LED is integrated into the fitting and rated for 30,000+ hours of operation. When the LED reaches end-of-life, the entire fitting is replaced rather than the LED module alone.

Can it be used indoors?

Yes. The IP54 rating makes it suitable for bathrooms, utility rooms and other indoor spaces where moisture protection is needed, as well as outdoor installation.

How is it wired?

The Mane connects to mains voltage (AC 110-240V) via a rear cable entry. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations. See the product manual for the exact cable entry configuration.
