Description

The Mandal is a compact outdoor down wall light made from galvanised steel with a silver powder-coated finish, housing a single 8W GU10 LED bulb rated at 3000K. The fitting directs light downward through a clear glass lens set into the base of the cylindrical body, creating a focused pool of warm white light on the wall surface below.

Designed for external wall mounting on patios, porches, entrance archways and garden walls, the Mandal carries an IP44 rating that protects against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The 122mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting clear of most door frames and windowsills, while the 93mm width keeps the visual footprint minimal on narrow wall sections. The downward-only light distribution reduces light pollution upward and outward, making it suitable for residential areas with dark-sky considerations.

The galvanised steel construction resists corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments better than plain steel or aluminium alternatives. The silver powder coating over the galvanisation provides additional UV and moisture protection, maintaining the finish in direct sun and rain exposure. The GU10 socket accepts standard UK mains-voltage GU10 bulbs, so the included 8W LED can be replaced with a different colour temperature or wattage if needed without rewiring.

Does the Mandal come with a bulb?

Yes. The fitting includes one 8W GU10 LED bulb rated at 3000K warm white. The bulb is replaceable with any standard mains-voltage GU10 up to 8W if you prefer a different colour temperature or brightness.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction. It can be installed in exposed positions on external walls, under eaves, on porches and in open patios. It is not suitable for direct water jets or full submersion.

How is the Mandal mounted?

The fitting mounts to an external wall using two fixing screws through the back plate. The electrical cable enters through a rear cable gland. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician and the fitting must be earthed.

Can it be used in coastal areas?

Yes. The galvanised steel construction with powder-coated finish provides corrosion resistance suitable for coastal and high-humidity environments. Regular cleaning to remove salt deposits will extend the life of the finish in direct coastal exposure.
