Description

The Mandal is a compact outdoor wall light with a cylindrical black powder-coated steel body that directs a single GU10 LED downward. The fixture measures 105mm high by 93mm wide and projects 122mm from the wall, housing an 8W 3000K LED bulb that creates a focused pool of warm white light below the fitting. The black galvanised steel construction and IP44 rating make it suitable for external wall mounting in covered and exposed positions.

Designed for pathways, porches, garage doors and garden walls, the Mandal provides functional task lighting where a downward beam is needed to illuminate steps, door thresholds or planted borders. The IP44 rating protects against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, meaning the light can be installed on walls that face prevailing weather but should not be positioned where it will be subjected to direct water jets or submersion.

The cylindrical form and low-profile mounting plate suit modern and industrial architecture without drawing visual attention during daylight hours. The included GU10 LED is replaceable, allowing the light source to be swapped out when it reaches end of life without replacing the entire fitting. The 8W output and 3000K colour temperature provide enough light for safe navigation along a wall run without creating glare, and the black finish absorbs rather than reflects ambient light from neighbouring windows or street lighting.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 protects against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The Mandal can be fitted to external walls in covered porches or fully exposed positions, but should not be installed where it will be subjected to direct high-pressure water jets or submersion.

Does the bulb need replacing?

The 8W GU10 LED bulb is included and is replaceable. When the LED reaches end of life, unscrew the lens cover and swap in a new GU10 bulb rated up to 8W. Standard GU10 LEDs are widely available and do not need to be a Norlys-branded replacement.

Can the light direction be adjusted?

No. The Mandal is a fixed downlight. The beam angle is determined by the GU10 bulb fitted — most GU10 LEDs provide a 38-60° beam spread, creating a focused pool of light directly below the fitting.

What fixing method is used?

The fitting mounts to a standard outdoor back box or wall surface via screws through the rear mounting plate. Cable entry is through a rear knock-out. The fitting should be installed by a qualified electrician and wired to a switched or unswitched outdoor lighting circuit depending on control preference.
