Malaga Outdoor 1 Light Wall Lantern - White

The Malaga is a white cast aluminium outdoor wall lantern with polycarbonate glazing panels and a single E27 bulb fitting. The die-cast aluminium body carries a white powder-coated finish that resists corrosion in outdoor conditions, while the polycarbonate panels replace traditional glass to avoid breakage risk and improve impact resistance. The lantern housing measures 410mm tall by 180mm wide with a 130mm projection from the wall.

Designed for mounting on external walls at porch entrances, garden gates, patio areas and garage sides, the Malaga suits locations that need directed downlight and ambient visibility. The IP54 rating protects internal components from dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making the lantern suitable for exposed walls in UK weather including heavy rain zones. The five-year guarantee carries no coastal exclusions, meaning the fitting can be installed in seaside locations where salt air accelerates corrosion of lesser finishes.

The cast aluminium construction gives the lantern structural rigidity without excessive weight, while the white powder coating provides a neutral finish that pairs with white-painted render, pale brick, timber cladding and stone facings. The polycarbonate panels diffuse the light from the E27 bulb evenly across the lantern faces, reducing harsh shadows and glare points. The fitting accepts any standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W (sold separately), allowing control over colour temperature and brightness depending on whether the location needs warm accent light or cooler security-focused illumination.

Is the Malaga suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. Norlys provides a five-year guarantee on the Malaga with no coastal exclusions, meaning the white powder-coated finish is engineered to resist salt air corrosion. This makes it suitable for properties near the sea where standard painted finishes often fail within 12-24 months.

What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for ambient porch lighting, or a cooler 4000K-5000K LED for security-focused applications.

Can it be used in a bathroom or shower area?

The IP54 rating protects against water splashes from any direction but does not certify the fitting for direct jet washing or submersion. For outdoor bathrooms or very wet zones, an IP65-rated alternative would be more appropriate.

How is the lantern mounted?

The fitting includes a rear mounting plate with fixing holes for screwing to the wall surface. The electrical connection is made inside the mounting box before the decorative lantern housing is secured over the plate. Standard outdoor wiring practices apply, and installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
