Description

The MagPro Conventional Zone Module is a loop-powered interface unit that connects conventional fire detection devices to addressable fire alarm systems. The module monitors a single conventional zone of up to 32 detectors or call points, translating their analogue alarm signals into addressable data that the main fire panel can read and locate. A built-in isolator protects the addressable loop from short-circuit faults originating in the conventional zone.

Designed for retrofit installations where existing conventional beam detectors, heat detectors or manual call points need integrating into a newer addressable panel, the module removes the need to replace functional conventional equipment during a system upgrade. It also suits new installations where specific conventional devices (particularly long-range beam detectors in warehouses or atriums) offer better coverage than addressable equivalents. The module draws power directly from the addressable loop, requiring no separate supply.

The green PCB visible in the housing handles zone monitoring, fault detection and communication with the addressable loop controller. Terminal blocks on the left and bottom edges accept connections for the conventional zone wiring and the addressable loop in/out. The grey ABS enclosure measures approximately 180mm x 130mm x 50mm and is designed for wall mounting in plant rooms, risers or ceiling voids where ambient temperatures remain within the module's operating range.

EN54-18 certification confirms compliance with the European standard for input/output devices used in fire detection and alarm systems. The isolator function ensures that a short circuit on the conventional zone side does not bring down the entire addressable loop, maintaining system integrity during fault conditions.

Frequently Asked

What is the maximum number of conventional detectors per zone?

The module supports up to 32 conventional fire detectors or manual call points on a single monitored zone. This limit is determined by the current-drawing capacity of the zone circuit and the module's ability to reliably detect alarm conditions across that number of devices.

Does the module require a separate power supply?

No. The module is loop-powered, drawing all operating power from the addressable fire alarm loop it connects to. No external DC supply or mains connection is needed.

What does the built-in isolator do?

The isolator protects the addressable loop from short-circuit faults that occur on the conventional zone side. If the conventional wiring or a connected device short-circuits, the isolator disconnects that fault from the addressable loop, preventing the entire loop from going offline.

What types of conventional devices can be connected?

The module accepts any conventional fire detection device that operates on a monitored two-wire zone circuit, including heat detectors, smoke detectors, beam detectors and manual call points. Beam detectors in large open spaces are a common application where conventional devices are still preferred.

Free worldwide delivery

Free worldwide delivery on all orders over £99. International orders for third-party brand products may be subject to an additional courier surcharge based on volumetric weight, particularly on larger lighting fixtures — if a surcharge applies, our team will email you with the amount before dispatch and you can proceed or cancel for a full refund. See full delivery terms.

Returns

30-day returns window from delivery. As all our products are electrical or lighting goods, returned items must be inspected and recertified by a qualified electrician before resale — the cost of this inspection (25–40% of the item value) is deducted from your refund.
