MagPro Combined Smoke & Thermal Detector - Addressable

The MagPro is an addressable combined smoke and thermal detector from ESP, integrating both optical smoke detection and a Class A1R temperature sensor in a single ceiling-mounted unit. The detector covers up to 120m² at installation heights up to 16m, and carries EN54-5 and EN54-7 certification for use in commercial fire alarm systems. Sensitivity is selectable remotely from the control panel across four levels — High, Normal, Middle, and Low — allowing the detector to be tuned to different environmental conditions without physical access to the unit.

Designed for commercial, hospitality, retail and public building fire alarm installations, the MagPro pairs optical smoke detection with thermal sensing to reduce false alarms in environments where dust, steam or cooking fumes might trigger a smoke-only detector. The Class A1R thermal element responds to a fixed temperature threshold according to EN54-5, providing a second detection mode that activates independently of the smoke chamber. The detector operates in Day/Night mode, adjusting sensitivity automatically based on time-programmed settings from the control panel.

The low-profile white housing measures approximately 100mm diameter and projects 45mm from the ceiling when fitted to a compatible base (sold separately — see MAGPRO-DB, MAGPRO-DBS or MAGPRO-DBSS). A red LED indicator ring provides 360° visibility from floor level when the detector activates or during system testing. The addressable protocol allows the control panel to identify the exact detector location when an alarm condition occurs, reducing response time in large multi-zone installations. The unit weighs 130g and draws minimal standby current from the loop, allowing high detector counts per loop without additional power supplies.

What base does the detector require?

The MagPro detector head requires a separate addressable base, sold separately. ESP offers three options: MAGPRO-DB (standard base), MAGPRO-DBS (base with sounder), and MAGPRO-DBSS (base with sounder and isolator). The base connects to the fire alarm loop wiring and the detector head clips onto the base during installation.

How is sensitivity adjusted?

Sensitivity is programmed remotely from the compatible fire alarm control panel across four levels: High, Normal, Middle, and Low. This allows the detector to be tuned to the environment without accessing the ceiling-mounted unit. The Day/Night mode provides automatic sensitivity adjustment based on time schedules programmed at the panel.

What height can the detector be installed at?

The MagPro is rated for installation heights up to 16m. At heights above 10m, ensure the detector remains accessible for periodic maintenance and testing, either via a scissor lift or permanent access platform depending on the building design.

Is the detector compatible with all addressable panels?

The MagPro uses ESP's addressable protocol. It is compatible with ESP MagPro and Advanced MX fire alarm control panels. Check compatibility with your specific panel model before ordering, as the detector will not communicate with panels from other manufacturers without a protocol translator.
