Description

The MagPro addressable sounder strobe is an EN54-23 certified fire alarm device combining a piezo sounder with a visual strobe beacon behind a translucent red dome. The unit draws power and control from a two-wire addressable fire alarm loop, allowing the panel to trigger specific sound patterns, adjust volume and synchronise multiple devices across a site without additional cabling.

Designed for commercial fire alarm systems where both audible and visual warning is required, the MagPro sounder strobe suits open-plan offices, warehouses, care facilities and hospitality environments where occupants may be hard of hearing or where ambient noise levels require clear visual indication. The device mounts onto a separately-ordered MAGPRO-DB base, which fixes to a standard UK back box or directly to wall/ceiling surfaces depending on the installation environment. The IP21C rating provides protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm and limited moisture ingress, making the unit suitable for most indoor environments but not for wet rooms or outdoor installations.

The sounder offers 32 selectable sound types programmable from the control panel, with output adjustable between 92dB and 100dB at 1 metre. This allows different zones to use distinct tones or for volume to be tailored to room acoustics and occupancy type. The strobe operates synchronised to the sounder when multiple devices are on the same loop, preventing the disorienting effect of out-of-phase flashing across a building. The piezo element provides consistent output over the device's operating life without the drift or failure modes associated with moving-coil sounders.

Does this unit include the mounting base?

No. The MagPro sounder strobe requires a separate MAGPRO-DB base ordered separately. The base fixes to a standard UK back box or directly to a wall or ceiling surface, and the sounder strobe twists onto the base to complete installation.

What does EN54-23 certification mean?

EN54-23 is the European standard for fire alarm visual warning devices. It specifies minimum performance requirements for strobe flash intensity, flash rate and synchronisation, ensuring the device provides effective visual warning in fire alarm systems across commercial and public buildings.

Can the sound type and volume be changed after installation?

Yes. Both sound type and volume are programmable from the addressable fire alarm control panel. The device supports 32 different sound patterns and two volume levels (92dB or 100dB at 1m), allowing settings to be adjusted remotely without physically accessing the unit.

Is this suitable for outdoor installation?

No. The IP21C rating provides protection against solid objects and limited moisture but is not rated for exposure to rain, direct water spray or outdoor condensation. For outdoor fire alarm signalling, specify a device with IP65 or higher rating.
