Description
The MagPro addressable detector base is a mounting plate for ESP MagPro series smoke and heat detectors, designed for installation on addressable fire alarm loops. The base accepts MAGPRO-SD1 smoke detectors, MAGPRO-HD1 heat detectors, and MAGPRO-HSD1 combined heat and smoke detectors, providing the physical mount and electrical connection between the detector head and the two-wire loop cable.
Used in commercial, industrial and residential fire alarm installations where each detector needs a unique address on the control panel, the base fits standard UK back boxes and ceiling mounts. The addressable protocol allows the control panel to identify which specific detector has triggered, rather than just which zone, giving faster fault identification and reducing false alarm response times.
The base weighs 40g and uses a bayonet-twist lock to secure the detector head, allowing the head to be removed for testing or replacement without disconnecting wiring. Terminal blocks inside the base accept loop cable up to 2.5mm² and the base carries clear polarity markings to guide installation. The white thermoplastic housing is rated for indoor use and suits ceiling or wall mounting depending on detector type.

Frequently Asked
Which detectors is this base compatible with?
The MagPro addressable base works with ESP MAGPRO-SD1 smoke detectors, MAGPRO-HD1 heat detectors, and MAGPRO-HSD1 combined heat and smoke detectors. It is not compatible with conventional (non-addressable) detectors.
What cable size does the base accept?
The terminal blocks inside the base accept loop cable up to 2.5mm². The base includes clear polarity markings to guide correct wiring during installation.
Can the detector head be removed without rewiring?
Yes. The base uses a bayonet-twist lock, allowing the detector head to be removed for testing, cleaning or replacement without disconnecting the loop cable from the base terminals.
Is the base suitable for outdoor installation?
No. The base is rated for indoor use only. For outdoor or high-humidity environments, an IP-rated detector and base assembly would be required.
