Description
The MAGfire Auxiliary Relay Isolate is a white-faced isolator switch designed for fire alarm and emergency lighting systems, rated for mains switching up to 8A. The unit provides manual isolation via a key-operated switch, cutting power to auxiliary circuits during maintenance or testing while the main fire alarm panel remains active.
Installed as part of commercial fire safety systems in offices, retail, education and healthcare buildings, the switch allows engineers to safely isolate sounder circuits, magnetic door holders, dampers or emergency lighting while servicing equipment. The key-operated switch prevents unauthorised operation and reduces the risk of tampering. A yellow LED on the faceplate illuminates when the relay is in the isolated position, providing clear visual confirmation before cover removal or work begins.
The unit accepts an external trigger input from the fire alarm control panel, allowing the relay to activate automatically on fire detection. An internal programmable buzzer can be configured to sound when the relay operates, alerting occupants or maintenance staff. The housing measures 105mm wide by 98mm tall by 68mm deep and can be surface-mounted onto a wall or recessed into a standard back box depending on installation requirements. The white ABS faceplate carries embossed labelling ('ISOLATED', 'ON', 'ISO') and includes a warning notice about isolating mains before removing the cover.

Frequently Asked
What does the auxiliary relay isolate?
The relay is typically wired to isolate auxiliary fire alarm circuits such as sounders, magnetic door holders, smoke dampers or emergency lighting, allowing those circuits to be de-energised for maintenance without shutting down the entire fire alarm control panel.
Can it be triggered automatically by the fire alarm panel?
Yes. The unit accepts an external trigger input from a conventional fire alarm panel, allowing the relay to operate automatically on fire detection. The programmable internal buzzer can also be configured to sound when the relay activates.
Is the key removable in both positions?
Most key-operated isolators of this type allow the key to be removed only in the 'isolated' position, preventing the key from being left in the switch and reducing the risk of unauthorised operation. Consult the product manual for confirmation of this model's specific behaviour.
What mounting options are available?
The unit can be surface-mounted onto a wall or recessed into a standard electrical back box. The 105mm x 98mm x 68mm dimensions suit most commercial installation environments.
