Description

The MAGfire auxiliary isolator relay switch is a red-plated control unit designed for fire alarm systems and building services installations where auxiliary equipment needs to be isolated independently from the main fire panel. The unit houses a key-operated rotary switch, an internal relay rated up to 8A mains switching, a programmable internal buzzer and a yellow LED indicator that shows isolation status.

Used in commercial, industrial and institutional buildings where fire alarm systems control door release magnets, ventilation dampers, extraction fans or other auxiliary devices, the isolator allows maintenance engineers to safely de-energise specific circuits without shutting down the entire fire system. The key switch prevents unauthorised operation and the warning label on the faceplate reminds users to isolate before removing the cover. The external trigger input allows the relay to be activated remotely from a fire panel or manual call point.

The 105 x 98mm red steel enclosure is 68mm deep, allowing surface mounting on walls or plant room panels, or recessing into 35mm+ back boxes where flush installation is required. The two fixing screws visible in the image sit left and right of the key switch. The yellow LED sits above the key switch and illuminates when the relay is in the 'isolated' position. The internal buzzer can be configured to sound when the relay is activated, providing local audible indication in noisy plant rooms or equipment cupboards.

Frequently Asked

What is the relay switching capacity?

The internal relay is rated for mains switching up to 8A at 230V AC. This is sufficient for most auxiliary fire alarm devices including door magnets, damper motors and small extraction fans.

Can the buzzer be disabled?

The internal buzzer is programmable. Refer to the product manual linked in the Downloads section for wiring instructions to enable or disable the buzzer on relay activation.

Does the unit require external power?

Yes. The relay requires mains voltage supply and control voltage from the fire panel or external trigger source. Exact wiring configuration depends on the application — see the manual for connection diagrams.

Is the key switch replaceable?

The key switch can be replaced if damaged, but requires removal of the front cover and disconnection of the internal wiring. Replacement keys are available separately if the original is lost.
