Description

The MagDuo deep base is a white thermoplastic mounting base for ESP fire alarm detectors, ceiling sounders and strobes. At 150mm diameter and 80mm depth, the base provides additional clearance for wiring terminations and back boxes where standard shallow bases cannot accommodate cable runs or where ceiling voids are restricted.

Designed for commercial fire alarm installations using ESP FlexiPoint detectors and MagDuo sounders or strobes, the base accepts 2-wire systems and terminates loop cables internally before the detector or sounder device clips into place. The additional 80mm depth allows installers to fold excess cable inside the base or to fit the base over ceiling junction boxes without compressing wiring.

The base material is fire-retardant thermoplastic rated for continuous operation in ambient temperatures typical of UK commercial and residential buildings. Three internal screw terminals accept loop wiring, and the top rim incorporates alignment notches that ensure detectors and sounders seat correctly when twisted into the locked position. The white finish matches ESP's standard detector housings.

What devices is this base compatible with?

The MagDuo deep base accepts all ESP FlexiPoint detectors, MagDuo ceiling sounders, and MagDuo strobes. It is designed for 2-wire fire alarm systems and is not compatible with conventional 4-wire detectors or non-ESP devices.

Why would I need a deep base instead of a standard base?

Deep bases provide 80mm of clearance for cable terminations, making them necessary where ceiling voids are shallow, where multiple cable runs converge at the detector position, or where the base must sit over an existing junction box. Standard shallow bases offer only 20-30mm clearance and cannot accommodate folded or looped cable.

How is the base fixed to the ceiling?

The base fixes to the ceiling surface or back box using screws through mounting holes in the base flange. Once wired and fixed, the detector or sounder device twists and locks into the top rim of the base.

What material is the base made from?

The base is moulded from white fire-retardant thermoplastic rated for continuous operation in typical commercial and residential ambient temperatures. The material meets UK fire safety standards for alarm system components.
